The Arab American National Museum (AANM), the Arab Film and Media Institute (AFMI), ArteEast, and Mizna proudly present the Arab Film Fest Collab (AFFC) from December 3 to 13, 2020. The AFFC is a collectively produced virtual film festival, screening independent Arab cinema for audiences across the United States.

The 1st annual Sabira Cole Film Festival ventures online for 2020, inviting viewers into a new virtual space that continues to bring the Pittsburgh community a curated collection of independent cinema from or about the African Diaspora. Bassel & The Supernaturals tells the story of Bassel Almadani's experience as a first generation Syrian-American—using soulful melodies and a funky style, deeply inspired by Otis Reading, and using captivating lyrics of love, loss, and the war in Syria.

The group is also deeply values driven, dedicated to building awareness and empathy for Syrian refugees. A substantial portion of their proceeds benefit the Karam Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization focused on building a better future for Syria.

This beautifully acted debut feature from Maryam Touzani is a character driven tale that blends the perfect ingredients to create a satisfying and heart-felt story. In her book Television and the Afghan Culture Wars: Brought to You by Foreigners, Warlords, and Activists, Osman analyzes the impact of international funding and cross-border media flows on the national politics of Afghanistan, the region, and beyond. Fieldwork from across Afghanistan allowed Osman to record the voices of Afghan media producers and people from all sectors of society. Afghans offer their own seldom-heard views on the country’s cultural progress and belief systems, their understandings of themselves, and the role of international interventions.

The EU's relations with Iran have strengthened since the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015. These relations have become more important now, as the current US administration is determined to further undermine the agreement by pressing the UN to restore economic sanctions and extend the arms embargo against Iran. The EU’s disagreement with the US position has brought the nuclear non-proliferation regime, the maintenance of international agreements, and the future of European relations with the US and Iran at a crossroads.
