Monroeville Public Library presents "Celebrating Ramadan"
The library has scheduled a program titled "Celebrating Ramadan" for the greater Monroeville Community. It is a great learning opportunity about Islam in general and Ramadan in particular for our non-Muslim neighbors, friends, colleagues and classmates. Dr. Salah AlMoukamal, will present a lecture on Celebrating Ramadan on Wednesday July 8, 2015 7:00 PM at the Gallery Space within library premises.

Rights of Passage Art Exhibit: Opening Reception

“Rights of Passage” is an artistic journey of an American with roots in Palestine, it
is a personal artistic narrative and a political response to thorny issues that prevent
the two cultures from co-existing. In this context the gallery itself becomes a
metaphor. By transforming the space, the language of art becomes a catalyst for
exploration of a peaceful resolution. Even as Israelis and Palestinians contest
over the rights of self determination a globally-recognized national

Explore Iran’s rich cultural and artistic history with Soude Dadras, visiting scholar in the department of history of art and architecture at the University of Pittsburgh. Each session will focus on one of four art forms deeply rooted in Persian history—carpets, ceramics, architecture, and calligraphy and painting.
